The IBO Challenge will have one single theoretical-practical exam, scheduled for 19 July 2021 at 09:00 (regardless of the country time zone).
This IBO Challenge II will be based on the journey of Fernão de Magalhães, a Portuguese explorer who organised the Spanish expedition to the East Indies from 1519 to 1522, resulting in the first circumnavigation of the Earth, which was completed after his death in the Philippines by Juan Sebastián Elcano.
(Fernão de Magalhães (Ferdinand Magellan), in a 16/17th century anonymous portrait)
Based on this event which is now commemorating its 500th anniversary, our Theoretical-Practical exam will recreate a journey around the Globe, where we will “stop” at different parts of the World and ask questions concerning those different ecosystems, on these subjects:
– Ecology
– Cellular Biology and Biotechnology
– Animal Anatomy and Physiology
– Microbiology
– Biosystematics
Notes:
1 – Each “Stop” may include one or several of the subjects above (it will not be “one stop-one subject”)
2 – Each subject can be part of more than one “stop”
In the absence of Magellan, the journey will be “guided” by a fiction sailor called GPS (which stands for Global Portuguese Sailor) and who will take you on this amazing ride across the World
Soon we will be sending full instructions to the country Delegates on how to perform the test.
